MerrySketch is a free, browser-based holiday app where you draw your own Christmas ornaments and hang them on a shared, interactive 3D Christmas tree. Sketch an ornament by hand, upload a picture, or snap a photo, then watch it appear as a decoration you can place anywhere on the tree by rotating and tapping the 3D scene. Friends and family can visit the same tree and add their own ornaments, turning a simple drawing into a collaborative holiday keepsake you decorate together.

Everything runs in your web browser with no installation required, and works on phones, tablets, and desktops. MerrySketch was built to capture the feeling of decorating a tree with the people you care about, even when you are far apart.

How to Create and Hang an Ornament

Creating your first ornament takes only a minute:

  1. Tap the “Add Ornament” button. Look for the colorful red-to-green gradient button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Choose how to create it. You have three options: draw your own design with the built-in tools, upload an existing image, or take a photo with your camera.
  3. Remove the background (optional). Tap the scissors button to magically remove the background from your image so the ornament looks natural on the tree.
  4. Polish it with AI (optional). Use Magic Polish to turn a rough sketch into a beautiful, finished ornament. Magic Polish is powered by Cloudflare AI and every account gets three free uses per day; AI creations are saved to your personal library.
  5. Hang it on the tree. When you are happy with your ornament, tap “Hang on Tree,” give it a name, and add an optional message.
  6. Position it. Rotate the 3D tree by dragging, then tap exactly where you want your ornament to hang. That's it!

Drawing Tools

The built-in drawing canvas gives you everything you need to design an ornament from scratch. Choose between pencil and brush strokes, adjust colors and sizes, use an eraser, and add shapes such as squares, circles, hearts, stars, and hexagons. You can add text, drop in emoji, undo and redo your steps, and import a photo to trace or decorate over. When you are done, your artwork is exported as a clean ornament image ready to hang.

Community Tree vs. Your Personal Tree

MerrySketch has a shared community tree on the public Plaza where anyone can add an ornament and see what others have created. You can also create your own personal tree, invite friends with a private link, and decorate it together. Set your tree to private so that only people with your invite link can see it, or keep it open for everyone to enjoy.

Sharing Your Tree

Share your decorated tree with friends and family in a few ways. Generate an invite link so friends can visit and add their own ornaments, capture a screenshot of your tree to send through messaging apps, or share the public Plaza tree that everyone contributes to. Every ornament you and your friends create stays on the tree so you can revisit it all season long.
